The Hamil Group/Fashion Icon Scholarship Contest Winner!
Lindsey Boland of Geneva Illinois

Miss Lindsey won our hearts with her down-to earth Journal Book of Days and her soft-sell recycling message. Her use of found textiles came across in a way that was both fresh and genuine. We could tell that she was having a good time, and had a realistic handle on the world's state of over-consumption. Without emulating the tired all-cotton eco-earthy matronly clothing that is sooooh over saturated, she came up with some stylish little numbers that people would actually want to wear lots of. She sees her clients are "non-conformists", and she even nailed down diverse specifics ranging from a collaborative dinner meeting with Tracy Feith - to Parker Posey's dropping by her flagship Nolita store. She set up her new studio in Paris' Rue de Charbonne, not to be uber-trendy, but to be "close to the pulse of her creativity that stems from the streets". Now, if more of Seventh Avenue would take notes, we all might have a better time next season. More often than not, if you're focused while you follow your heart, your dreams will find a way to come true. Especially if someone makes you write them down. We all felt that her dream journal could actually happen, and we hope that she gets the boost she needs this summer!
